Save Space - Buying A Folding Treadmill

A folding treadmill is a great piece of exercise equipment. Treadmills take up lots of space, as those of us who have had one in our home office may know. With a folding treadmill, you can minimize the space it takes when you're not using it by simply folding it up. Most folding treadmills become half their size when folded up.

Folding treadmills are a relatively new item in the treadmill market. Treadmill companies responded to customer complaints about keeping the giant machines in their homes by developing this simple technology. Now, folding treadmills outsell non-folding treadmills because of their space convenience.

The same major brands that deal in standard treadmills also make folding treadmills. Folding treadmills are usually sold for under $2,000. It would be hard to find one priced higher than that. They are designed to be inexpensive and convenient, so most companies do not have high end folding treadmills.

The Same Features

Folding treadmills are not limited in the features they offer. You can get almost the exact same treadmill. Folding treadmills have the same motors as non-folding, up to 3 horsepower.

They are not necessarily smaller than regular treadmills. You can get an extra wide running surface or longer platform with a folding treadmill, just like a standard model.

Folding treadmills also offer the same extras, like heart rate monitors, incline control and variable speeds. In terms of features and electronics, folding treadmills are no different than the regular ones.

Durability

Where folding treadmills are lacking is durability. Because of the requirements of a folding frame, they just can't make them as tough or stable as regular treadmills. This is why you never see one for over $2,000. That extra price is for the durability and frame quality.

In fact, if you buy a cheap folding treadmill, you can be certain that it will fall apart quickly. If you want to get a folding model, go ahead and pay $1,500 or more and make sure you get one that will last. Folding treadmills are sold for as low as $500, but you'll be lucky if that machine will last you until your next birthday.

Go With A Manual

Almost all the major treadmill companies make "manual" folding treadmills that are so small and easy to lug around that they are advertised as "portable." These models don't use electricity, and can be a handy way to get a smooth workout.

Of course, you don't get all the special features and extras. It also takes a little more work to get set up just right. But, if you are looking for a simple workout and a simple, easy-to-store machine, a manual folding treadmill might be right for you.

Best of all, you can get a manual for under $200.

A folding treadmill is a great way to get your workout and save your precious space at home. When you're done, just fold it up and put it in the corner. You and your family won't have to maneuver around it every time you walk across the room.
